Dry Gas Seal Gas Booster: Working Principle, Selection & Applications
A complete guide to dry gas seal gas boosters (gas booster pumps): working principle, key parameters, selection steps and typical applications, with HASKEL/MAXIMATOR-class comparison.
Overview
A dry gas seal gas booster (also called a gas booster pump) uses compressed air to raise low-pressure gas to the required high pressure without electricity. Designed for DGS control panels, it supplies seal gas to rotating equipment.
Working principle
A large drive piston actuates a smaller high-pressure piston; the area ratio multiplies pressure. It auto-cycles to hold set pressure.
Selection
Define drive pressure, outlet pressure/flow, medium and environment. Ratio ≈ outlet ÷ drive. HIGH-PA 4AG covers 2:1 to 100:1+ with custom sizing.
Applications
- Seal-gas pressurization for DGS panels
- Gas tightness and pressure testing
- N2/He/Ar boosting and cylinder filling
